GERRARD NEEDHAM
As a lad all Gerrard wanted was to be on the water, he loved the freedom it gave him, he used the family runabout almost daily through the summers after school. He then found himself in New York working as anything from bartender/waiter and building wooden crates by night to art director for motion shoots by day and finally found the courage to approach photography and pursue it seriously as a profession.
Gerrard always appreciated it but having a brother and a best friend who were photographers he never wanted to imitate. The same applies to his career now, and so he hopes never to imitate and this has given him great freedom, similar to that as a young fella. Having returned to Australia to raise a family his focus has been to shoot mainly advertising photography based in portraiture, however, a natural inclination towards more conceptual images seems to be taking it’s hold as well.
