Writer / Director Summer Agnew is a graduate of the Elam School of Fine Arts and he likes Hawaiian shirts, long sunset-walks on Norwegian beaches, and hanging 10 at Devonport.
But it’s Summer’s unique flavour of charmed realism sets him apart from the crowd. He brings visual storytelling, playful humour and subtleties of authentic performance that make for relatable and entertaining viewing.
Approaching every script like it will be his last, Summer is constantly looking for a way to dial up the magic but also any excuse to discover New Zealand’s best pie shop. So don’t be surprised if your simple single-location shoot turns into a road trip where we find some magic on the fly. Or a set build in the Kumeu film studios which are right next door to one of the best pie shops around. And if you simply must do it all in one location well, thats cool too – the pies will just be delivered.
