John Robertson is a multi-media animation director with over 20 years animation and production expertise. His talents have taken him all over the globe working with clients in Europe, Uk, US and Australia. He began his career in Tv series, moving quickly to short film and commercials. He has since directed spots for a wide selection of international clients including Volkswagen, Audi, Cartoon Network, MTV, Diagio and Unilever / Dove.
He works in a variety of 2d and 3d techniques and also with combinations of animation and live action. After a couple of decades honing his skills in the business, Johns passion for transforming a creative brief into a meticulously crafted piece of animation remains as strong as ever. He thrives on the individual challenges each piece brings – always striving to find the most effective and succinct ways to elevate communication while embracing collaboration with other creative minds.
John’s work has screened at Annecy Animation Festival, The Los Angeles Animation Festival, and Animafest Zagreb. He has also been included in the seminal TV show ‘Liquid Television’, and received industry kudos including Silver and Bronze Lions for VW and Gordons Gin, and a 2015 Spike Award nomination for disaster relief project ‘Namaste for Nepal’.
Most recently he served as character design lead on Hulu’s Australian superhero animated sitcom Koala Man.
